Accessibility

Voluntary statement on the digital accessibility of alpenhigh.eu.

What we are aiming for

We want everyone to be able to shop at Adelwöhrer & Puffer OG — whether you use a mouse, the keyboard alone, a screen magnifier or a screen reader. Our yardstick is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA.

We have not carried out a formal conformance audit. This page therefore claims no conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA. It sets out what is actually in place and what we do not yet know.

What is in place

  • Skip link. A link at the very top of every page jumps past the navigation straight to the content.
  • Keyboard operation. The interface is built from standard HTML controls; our own components, such as select menus and tooltips, carry ARIA markup. The focused element is always visibly highlighted.
  • Page structure. Every page uses real landmarks — header, navigation, main content, footer — rather than merely styled containers.
  • Language markup. Every page declares its language machine-readably, in all four languages we offer.
  • Motion. If your operating system is set to "reduce motion", you get no animations.
  • Dark theme. The header lets you switch between a light and a dark theme, and remembers your choice.
  • Responsive layout. Pages work on small screens and at enlarged text sizes.
  • No third-party scripts. We load no scripts, fonts or content from third parties. There are no ad banners, no pop-ups and no auto-playing media.

Known limitations

We would rather name the open points than leave them unsaid:

  • No external audit. Colour contrast, form labelling and screen-reader operation have not been tested systematically. Individual places may fall short of the requirements.
  • Complex flows. Auction bidding, checkout and the seller and administration areas are built more elaborately than the plain content pages, and are therefore the most likely to be affected.
  • PDF documents. We generate invoices, gift cards and shipping labels ourselves and they are not tagged, so they are of limited use with a screen reader. Everything on your invoice is also available as HTML in your order overview.
  • Product images. Images carry the product name as alternative text; there is no detailed image description.

Reporting a barrier

If you come across something you cannot operate or cannot read, please tell us — including when you are not sure whether the site is at fault.

Email: office@alpenhigh.eu
Or use our contact form.

What helps: the address of the page, what you were trying to do there, and what you were using — browser, operating system, assistive technology. We look at every report and come back to you as quickly as we can. Where something cannot be fixed quickly, we will work out another way for you to complete your order.

Legal position

The Austrian Barrierefreiheitsgesetz (BaFG) implements Directive (EU) 2019/882 (the European Accessibility Act). Microenterprises providing services — fewer than ten staff and no more than two million euro in annual turnover or annual balance-sheet total — are exempt from its accessibility requirements. Adelwöhrer & Puffer OG falls within that exemption.

We publish this statement anyway. The exemption concerns the legal duty, not the goal: anyone who cannot operate our site cannot buy from us — and we want to know about it.
